Why Should I Print my Wedding Photos?

Why You Should Print Your Wedding Photographs

In the day and age of social media, instant sharing, likes, and shares, most people don’t think too much about printing their photos. In fact, when it is brought up, most people are a bit confused. In this article, Chris with Maple Bacon Photography will explain why it is so important to print your favourite wedding photographs.

Printing your wedding photographs is essential for several reasons, but the three reasons I routinely talk to my clients about are:

  1. You will actually look at prints;
  2. Your family and friends will look at the prints; and
  3. The prints become family heirlooms.

You Will Actually Look at the Prints!

Sure, in this day and age, digital media is king. We all love to share our photos quickly and with all our friends near and far using social media and electronic messaging. However, if you only get your wedding photographs in digital form, you will scroll through them once, share a few, and then never look at them again. I know because I’ve lived it. We got hundreds of digital images from our photographer, and the only ones we look at are the few we had printed and then displayed in our home, which leads me to my next point, your family and friends will look at the photos.

Your Family and Friends Will Look at the Photos!

Decorating your home with excellent photos of the day you and your spouse formally became a family celebrates your love for each other and helps personalize your home. Hardly a week goes by without my kids pointing to one of our wedding photos and asking us questions about our wedding. The prints of our wedding photos have helped build a sense of family with our children. The photos also provide great conversation starters with friends and family who visit. We remember our wedding but also reflect on where we were, where we have gone, and where we want to go. This takes me to my final point; printed wedding photographs become cherished heirlooms.

Prints of Your Wedding Photos Become Heirlooms!

Properly printed and framed wedding photos will last decades. They are not subject to changes in software or codecs; they won’t be accidentally deleted or lost because a hard drive crashes. Printed wedding photographs will be proudly displayed in your home for decades, and they will be passed down to your children and may even outlive you. My parents still have my grandparent’s wedding photos, photos that are over 80 years old! These old photos have provided a way for my family to remember my grandparents and my children, who never met my grandparents, to get to know a little bit more about where they came from.

Regardless of whether your hire Maple Bacon Photography to capture your wedding, I would strongly recommend that you invest in high-quality prints of your favourite photographs. They will help you remember your wedding and will help you tell your story for generations.

FAQ

Yes! Obviously, we are biased, but we genuinely believe wedding photography is important. Capturing the story of your wedding and the special moments that happen throughout the day through the art of photography is worth it!

It gives you a visual and permanent record of a significant moment in your life and the life of your family. Wedding photographs and albums become heirloom items that can be passed from generation to generation, allowing the story of your love to be told and remembered as if it happened yesterday.

Hiring a professional wedding photographer ensures you don’t have to stress about your photos. A professional will be able to capture your wedding and all the moments, big and small, and the details so that you can remember the whole day for years to come. You can be guaranteed results and won’t have to worry that your uncle Ned forgot to charge the battery on his camera.

Because we offer an all inclusive service, and because you get us for the entire day, we go where you go. If that means we get to the venue and stay there for the whole day, great. If it means we are at the bride's house, then the groom's parents' house, then the ceremony venue, before heading out to a nearby park and a coffee shop for portraits and candids of the couple, before finally arriving at the reception and dance location, that’s perfectly fine. Plan your day for you and we will follow. Remember, we are here to capture your day, how you want it.

Yes! We love the outdoors, and enjoy hiking and other recreational pursuits. If enjoying the outdoors is a part of your story we would love to capture you in your element.

Yes. We will work with the couple prior to the wedding to plan where we will shoot photos. Flexibility is important to us, and we will work with you, within reason, to get the photos you want in the places you want.

We love heading out on short walks in our city's amazing parks like Fish creek, or into the nearby mountain parks like Kananaskis, and then letting your family just have fun, and capturing moments along the way. Of course there are lots of other great options for getting family photos, from game night to skating, tobogganing to playing at the playground. We will work with you to capture your family in an authentic way.
