In this article, I will answer one of the most common questions we get asked at Maple Bacon Photography. How many photos we will deliver is one of the most common questions we get asked by couples who are considering hiring us for their wedding. If you have spoken to other wedding photographers, you have probably heard all sorts of different answers, so let’s dive in.
So, how many photos do I get?
In short, the answer is that it depends. We don’t place a limit on the number of photos we will deliver. We also don’t have an established minimum. Why? Well, every wedding, like every couple, is different. If you start your wedding preparation at 9:00 AM and then party through until 4:00 AM, we will take more photos, and crucially we will be present for many more photographic moments. So, it makes sense that we would deliver more photos for your wedding than a wedding that gets started at noon and wraps by 10:00 PM.
Our policy of not placing minimums or maximums on the number of photos we deliver comes from our keep-it-simple philosophy. Planning a wedding is challenging; your wedding day rushes by, and you have lots to do. We keep our offerings simple to prevent adding to your stress and make working with us as easy as possible. That’s why we only have one standard or service, which is luxury all-inclusive. With that, we don’t arbitrarily limit how we capture your story, and we don’t plan on making extra money from you by making you pay for extra photos. Instead, we promise to capture your story and give you all the high-quality photos necessary to remember your story for decades.
But Chris, how many photos will we get? Give us a number! Well, it’s hard to give you an exact number, but we usually deliver between 500 and 1000 digital images for an all-day wedding. We typically deliver between 150 and 400 photos for a small wedding or elopement.
If you’re looking at those numbers and wondering if it’s enough, the answer is yes. From our experience photographing weddings and our own wedding, we have learned that you’re going to look at all of your photos once, then pick your favourite five to ten, and then you’ll forget about the rest. The exception to that is photos you print and display in your home and photos that make it into your wedding album. This is why we include a luxury wedding album in all our wedding packages and strongly recommend printing your wedding photos.
Regardless of whether you decide to allow Maple Bacon Photography the privilege of capturing your wedding memories, you should make sure you understand how they deliver their photos. Do they have a set maximum number of images they will provide? Do they charge for each digital copy? Do they only provide prints and an album?
We want to be able to fully commit to your day. We don't want to be watching the clock or checking off a list of events/items we will or won't shoot based on a package that you selected. Weddings are unpredictable and it is impossible for you to know where or when the best and most touching moments are going to happen, and we don't want to miss these. Maybe it's grandma helping do up the dress, or the surprise arrival of a cherished loved one who you thought was not coming. Regardless, we want to be there for you, and be fully committed so that we can live in the moment and capture it. This also makes it simple for you and for us; no complicated packages to sort out, no guessing on what you need, no regrets for not getting more coverage, no surprise bill after the wedding. It's simple and straightforward.
The most obvious answer is to look for a photographer who takes photos you like. But, there are a few more things you should consider.
Do you like them? This is critically important because you will spend most of, if not all of, your big day with your photographer. If they take great photos, but you want to gouge your eyes out just being near them, they aren’t the photographer for you.
Do they have backup gear and backup plans? If you hire a professional photographer, they should plan like a professional. At Maple Bacon Photography, we always have backup gear and backup people. We can’t simply re-shoot your wedding on a different day, so we plan for foreseeable problems.
How do they handle data? At Maple Bacon Photography, we take data storage and security seriously. We always have backups and backups of the backups. We understand how precious your photos are, and we take great care in securing them.
Yes! Obviously, we are biased, but we genuinely believe wedding photography is important. Capturing the story of your wedding and the special moments that happen throughout the day through the art of photography is worth it!
It gives you a visual and permanent record of a significant moment in your life and the life of your family. Wedding photographs and albums become heirloom items that can be passed from generation to generation, allowing the story of your love to be told and remembered as if it happened yesterday.
Hiring a professional wedding photographer ensures you don’t have to stress about your photos. A professional will be able to capture your wedding and all the moments, big and small, and the details so that you can remember the whole day for years to come. You can be guaranteed results and won’t have to worry that your uncle Ned forgot to charge the battery on his camera.
Maple Bacon Photography offers an all-inclusive wedding package for large weddings and a small wedding package for a several-hour photo shoot. Both of these options give the couple flexibility of time and will create beautiful photos.
